Marinated button mushrooms


Marinated mushrooms Button Mushrooms these little beauties are a sensational addition to a cheese platter, they are so quick to make and will keep for a week or so.


  • 500g button mushrooms
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic grated
  • 3/4 cup port
  • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper to season



Wipe the mushrooms with paper towel to remove any mushroom compost.

Heat oil in a fry pan over a medium heat add the mushrooms and cook until golden, add the garlic and continue cooking for a minute or so, making sure you do not burn the garlic. To the frypan, add the port and red wine vinegar bring. Allow the liquid to come to a simmer and simmer until the liquid has become a little syrupy. Season with salt and pepper.

When cool store in an airtight container, your marinated mushrooms are ready to eat.
