Wild Figs in Spiced Syrup

Perfect served with cheese, or straight from the jar!

Ingredients:

  • 500g dried wild figs
  • 1 litre water
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 6 star anise
  • 3 cinnamon quills

Method

Method:

  1. In a large pot, combine the water, sugar, star anise and cinnamon quills.
  2. Bring to the boil, stirring occasionally until the sugar has completely dissolved.
  3. Add the dried figs to the pot, reduce to a low simmer and cook for 20–30 minutes, or until the liquid thickens into a syrup.
  4. Remove from the heat and allow to cool.
  5. Transfer the figs and syrup to an airtight container and store in the fridge.
